Protest Press Release and Pertinent Documents

The purpose of these documents is to inform the media about the seriousness of the problems the new IDSA guidelines have created for people with Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections.

We hope you as an interested person will look over the documents, select those that support your thoughts and ideas and contact a media person, the health reporter if there is one, at your local newspaper, TV and/or radio station.

If you are a member of the media, this set of documents describes the situation that that has led to the protest on November 30, 2006 in Westchester, NY. We hope you will read them and understand why the protest was organized and understand the serious issues patients have facing them now, as if the diseases were not enough of a problem. It’s clear that under the IDSA guidelines, patients will be denied long term treatment with the variety of medications that are often needed to improve their lives.

Suggestions:

  • Please try to add something to your submission to let the reporter know this is a local issue.
  • Your submission should not be over 1 page
  • Unless you know the reporter do not include any attachments or photos - most people will not open for fear of a virus.  You should ask them to contact you for additional information, photos and/or people to interview.
  • It's a good idea to prepare in advance a list of people available for possible phone interviews such as local doctors, patients and support group leaders
